Agriculture is entirely dry. Almond trees occupy 41% of the cultivated land (43% of the municipal total) and are increasing, olive trees, in combination with almond trees and barley are the main crops. Land ownership is fairly distributed and is exploited, for the most part, by the owners themselves. There are 1974 ha. of forest area, privately and communally owned, with permanent pastures, which are used by local livestock (cattle, sheep, pigs and poultry). Industrial activity is concentrated in the production and processing of olive oil.
The small lignite deposits (Lluc mine) gave rise to the construction of a mining train, but their exploitation, carried out by modest companies, is in decline and only feeds the surrounding construction factories.

Sports Area
The town of Almatret has a large multi-sports area that can be accessed all year round.
In addition to the children’s playground, there is a paddle tennis court (you can book from this same page), a bowling alley, a football and basketball court and a sports circuit for the elderly, in which everyone can participate, but which is especially indicated for people over 55 years of age or people with reduced mobility.
The space also has a picnic area with barbecues and a bar-restaurant open all year round.
And, in the hottest months, you can cool off in the municipal swimming pools, open from the end of June to mid-September.
